Get To Know 900lbs: Steven Billingslea

What do you at 900lbs?

Lead Interactive Developer: I spend a lot of time designing and developing our interactive applications. I often find myself working with emerging technologies and finding interesting ways to use that technology. I also oversee our developer department which is packed with talented people.

What do you do for fun?

I love to socialize. Whether it’s hanging out with my beautiful wife or interacting with the community in Denton, Texas, I truly enjoy being around people and I’ve never been much of a home-body. I enjoy going to movies, comedy shows, and interesting events. I also brew beer in my spare time and enjoy doing home improvement work on my house.

If you didn’t grow up in Dallas, where?

Dallas, Texas. Born and raised. I grew up in a suburb called Irving for most of my life and have lived all over the metroplex since then. I recently settled with my wife in Denton, Texas.

Favorite Music?

I have pretty eclectic tastes in music but if I had to choose I’m more of an R&B/Hip Hop kind of guy. However, I also really like folk music, dance music, country, pop, etc. I’m sure I’ll probably find something I enjoy about any particular genre.

Where do you hang out in your free time?

Depending on the day, either at home with my wife or in downtown Denton. I love The Bearded Monk, a bottleshop in Denton, Texas. I spend a little time there haha

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be? What would you do? Why?

I’m a BIG fan of the Pacific Northwest. I love going to Seattle whenever I can and recently did a road trip down the Oregon coast to San Francisco. I also enjoy the Appalachian mountain area. Of the places I haven’t been, Tokyo, Japan tops the list. I plan to make it there by 2020. Fingers crossed.

Favorite 900lbs project so far?

There’s a few things we are working on right now that might make this list, but if we are talking about completed projects then I have to go with Vespa. That was my first big project with 900lbs of Creative and my first foray into Augmented Reality. I really like how it turned out and I enjoyed learning everything I could on the subject.
