900lbs Of Creative Launches New FC Dallas Virtual Reality Experience

By October 12, 2016 No Comments

900lbs of Creative debuted an industry-first virtual reality goalie simulation on the HTC Vive for Major League Soccer’s FC Dallas team on October 8th at FC Dallas’ exclusive Meet The Team event at Toyota Stadium.

Using industry leading game development software, the 900lbs team has created a fully immersive soccer arena of the future. This infrared-based interactive VR game puts the user in the point of view of a goalie, trying to win a penalty shootout for their team. The game is controlled by the user’s physical movements in real time as they use their hands to try and block incoming shots from a virtual avatar. The environment is completely customizable for sponsorship opportunities and custom branding elements.

“Soccer is becoming so much more popular in the United States and it’s an exciting time for the sport. Interactive technology is our tool and we can create more “layers” for the game experience and help generate more fans.” Steve Deitz, CEO, 900lbs of Creative.

Potential future uses for this game include enhancing fans’ game day experience and building it out for acute hand eye coordination training. The 900lbs team plans to partner with an organization to repurpose this game for kids with disabilities, so that these kids have the opportunity to virtually get on the field.

Inspiring organizations to innovate, 900lbs’ projects span from projection mapping, and touch screen displays, to racing a T-Rex, and joining Tony Hawk on the halfpipe in 360 degree virtual reality. Their clients include Activision, Bank of America, Boy Scouts of America, Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Museum of Art, Frito Lay, Pepsico, the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, Shell Oil Company, ZTE, and many others.
