900lbs Participates and Wins Royal Caribbean Hackathon Event

900lbs recently participated in Royal Caribbean’s Hackathon Event held September 22nd – 23rd at WeWork in Miami, Florida. Twelve teams from Royal Caribbean, including the 900lbs Safety Command Center team, participated in this 24-hour Hackathon Event.

Team 900lbs consisted of Heather Jones (Director of Client Services), Steven Billingslea (Director of Interactive Development), Mitchell Massey (Sr. Producer and Strategist) and Ayana Atha (Visual Designer) as well as Juan Lopez (Manager, Enterprise Transformation | Digital) from Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.

The teams were presented with a challenge and tasked with developing a solution and proof of concept to pitch the following day at 11:30 AM to a panel of judges. Each team would have 5 minutes to present to the judges. Prizes were awarded for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place teams.

Team 900lbs developed a proof of concept demo utilizing emerging technologies for our pitch.

During the presentation, we were able to see each team’s proof of concept. Every team participating presented innovative, unique new solutions to the Royal Caribbean judges.

In the end, Team 900lbs took 1st place!

900lbs truly enjoyed working alongside such a talented group of Royal Caribbean team members who participated! We even made some new connections and friends along the way.

We are so grateful to be a part of the Royal Caribbean team and thank them for allowing us to be a part of this year’s Hackathon.
