Dallas Company To Provide Tech For SXSW’s First 360 Video Experience

DFW residents missing the action at South by Southwest can get a little closer to a live experience thanks to a Dallas technology company. 900lbs of Creative is partnering with the Austin-based festival to record 360-degree virtual reality video, which will be pushed out across SXSW’s social media channels throughout the festival.

 

The efforts of the Dallas-based innovation lab and creative marketing studio will enable SXSW’s first 360 virtual reality experience, a technology that has gained steam over the last year. YouTube helped the massive music festival Coachella broadcast live in 360 last year. Rhapsody has also experimented with 360-degree concert video.

 

SXSW will release three or four of the videos a day across its social platforms; each will be about a minute in length, according to a news release from 900lbs. SXSW runs from March 10 through March 19. The videos will capture SXSW’s full array of events, from the red carpet to concerts and keynote speakers.
