What do you do at 900lbs?
I’m an Experience Designer, which involves anything from research, moodboards, and storyboards to creative concepting, sound design, and prototyping. I am passionate about not only creating exceptional experiences that solve problems, but making memories that people remember for a lifetime.
What do you do for fun?
Ballroom dancing! It’s been a passion of mine since back in undergrad. I started freshman year in a social ballroom club, tried out competition ballroom for a year and a half, then went back to social ballroom so I could get back to the social aspects of dancing. I’ve been doing a mixture of teaching ballroom to students and dancing at local social dances for the past 6 years. The best feeling is when you’re able to guide someone who thinks they have two left feet and show them that they had the ability to dance in them all along. It’s all about the instructor creating a supportive environment and practicing, I say.
Another passion of mine is VR. I love being able to pick up the Vive and enter new worlds with just a few clicks. Beat Saber and Catch and Release are my favorites so far (especially since in Catch & Release, it has all the fun of catching fish without the risk of sunburn and mosquito bites)
If you didn’t grow up in Dallas, where?
It’s tough because my music preferences tend to change depending on what I’m feeling that day. The range of music I’m into at the moment includes a mix of Pop Rock (Third Eye Blind, REM, etc.), Smooth Jazz, Instrumental Spanish Guitar, Classic Rock (CCR, The Doors, etc.), and the occasional jam band like Dave Matthews Band.
Where do you hang out in your free time?
It’s in flux depending on what’s going on, but I always strive to have a diversity of experiences and try new things. That’s because I know that it will ultimately result in better creative output and being more informed about the world. Someone told me once: “What you get in, you get out.” So if you just read up on traditional advertising, you’ll just get traditional advertising out. Some highlights so far have been going to some immersive art museums, flamenco concerts, and the DXC Indy 600.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Venice, Italy for sure. Though all tied for first place would be New Zealand, the Amalfi Coast, Japan, Iceland, and Ireland.
What is your favorite 900lbs project so far?
It’s tough to say just one because there’s been several projects that I’ve loved. Some fan favorites so far has been Grand Prairie, Royal Caribbean, Resideo, Bell CES, and Grapevine CVB.
