Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) is America’s largest shipbuilder and a global, all-domain defense provider. With a more than 135-year history of advancing U.S. national defense, HII creates the advantage for their customers to protect peace and freedom around the world.
THE CHALLENGE
HII is well-known for its rich history in providing the world’s most powerful ships. They are also a leading all-domain defense provider, delivering technologies that safeguard our seas, sky, land, space and cyber.
HII’s ships, products and solutions are at the center of this critical transformation in our nation’s defense. They provide both the platforms and the command and control capabilities to collect, process and analyze vast amounts of data to inform decisive action.
HII sought a way to effectively communicate this message to attendees of the 2023 Sea Air Space Conference, held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland from April 3-5, 2023.
900lbs was brought on board to help the HII team achieve their mission. Together, we created a 3D cinematic video along with an interactive trade show experience that effectively showcases HII’s capabilities in Joint All-Domain.
THE SOLUTION
The cinematic video and interactive experience that we created for the Sea Air Space 2023 Conference tells the story of how HII is providing a portfolio of products and capabilities to make Joint All-Domain Command and Control Operations and Distributed Maritime Operations a reality.
The 2:00 3D cinematic video provided a high level overview of HII’s capabilities. It was delivered and looped throughout the event on a larger than life 57.5 ft x 11.5 ft LED screen that served as the focal point and backdrop to the HII booth. The cinematic video served as a trailer highlighting the breadth of HII’s capabilities and their Joint All Domain Story, with the goal to draw the attention of attendees to come inside the booth to learn more about HII.
Within the booth we had 4 touch screens available that allowed visitors to dive deeper into the platforms and enabling technologies that HII provides to customers. 900lbs designed and developed the interactive touch application utilizing 3D assets from the video and included additional content such as callouts, data sheets and videos to give attendees a more in-depth view of HII’s capabilities in Joint All Domain. Each solution included a QR code for attendees to scan and learn more via the HII.com website.
THE RESULTS
Our objective was to help HII generate buzz for their platforms and enabling technologies, to educate Sea-Air-Space attendees that HII is both a ship builder AND a mission technologies developer, and generate demand signals from their various customer audience segments.
HII leveraged the 4x interactive kiosks to supplement their specialized demos and sales presentations, allowing attendees to dive deeper into HII's capabilities. Over 50% of all interactions and impressions dealt with deeper learning of HII solutions.
The Sea-Air-Space conference was the highest attended event to date (even before COVID-19), and the audience definitely noticed this new content. The ultra-wide display design helped the booth stand out in a big way.
