The Challenge

Interstate Batteries provides batteries that power a wide range of technologies we use everyday – automotive, recreation, commercial and even household electronics. Their distribution network is a key cog in their process, effectively providing batteries all over the globe. To maintain this high level of production, Interstate looks to trade shows like AAPEX (The Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo) to forge new relationships and build on current ones.

Interstate approached 900lbs to be an experiential partner on its 2017 booth, challenging us to help showcase Interstate as a high-tech, forward thinking company, while also effectively communicating the full ecosystem of Interstate batteries, making them the standout leader in their industry.

The Experience

As we learned more about who Interstate Batteries is, we began to narrow down our creative to an augmented reality offering, which would provide us a unique canvas to tell the Interstate story through the use of high-impact, new technology that would set them apart on the show floor. With this technology in mind, we created a white-box city using nondescript buildings to both intrigue and attract attendees, while also serving as a strong backdrop to our augmented reality experience.

To effectively communicate the full Interstate Batteries ecosystem, we met with many different leaders of Interstate’s offerings, including stakeholders from their Headquarters, Innovation Lab, Marketing, and Distribution Network. Using this information, we added in interactive layers that effectively told the story of each key area, including 3D models of each interior, 3D modeled figures acting out each case study, and an active traffic system with Interstate Battery Delivery Trucks. Users were then able to navigate through the experience in two different modes: An “Exploration Mode” that emphasized natural interaction and experience, and a “Story Mode” that told a more linear story around Interstate’s Ecosystem.

The result was an experience that anchored the Interstate Batteries booth and provided a key backdrop for networking and sales opportunities, especially with a high concentration of international clients and prospects. 900lbs and Interstate Batteries are excited to continue this partnership and showcase this experience at future Interstate Batteries Events.
