900lbs Presents at the TMAC Smart Manufacturing Conference
by 900lbs of Creative
On Tuesday, October 22nd, members of 900lbs team had the opportunity to attend and present at the TMAC Smart Manufacturing Conference.
Angelica Ortiz, Experience Designer at 900lbs, presented on the topic of “Driving the Future of Manufacturing: Art of the Possible with Technology Powered By People”. During her presentation, she discussed three core challenges the manufacturing industry faces: skills gap, collaboration and maintenance, and visualization (product, facility, and data). Technology has a unique role to play to solve each and every one of these problems, as Angelica discussed the business case for virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), immersive (touch tables, projection mapping, etc.), and 3D printing through provoking statistics, case studies, and impact metrics.
In addition to the speaking engagement, we had the opportunity to demo our Gatorade VR Training and Visit Seattle projects to attendees in the exhibition hall. Participants were able to experience first hand the benefits of VR to improve safety and retention, as well as AR’s benefits of visualizing digital content to better inform our decision making. We enjoyed getting to meet SMB companies working in manufacturing, aerospace, food and beverage, etc. and discussing the art of the possible with them.
900lbs is thankful to collaborate with TMAC and is a proud partner. We look forward to partnering on more initiatives in the future.
