900lbs of Creative and Vroom roll out first-of-its-kind VR showroom.
900lbs of Creative (www.900lbs.com), an innovation lab and marketing studio that utilizes emerging technology to create one-of-a-kind wow experiences, and Vroom, the national online car retailer generating over $1 billion in revenue, enhance the car buying process and help evolve the future of retail by creating a fully immersive, 360 degree, virtual reality car showroom that will be available on the HTC Vive at pop-up stores across the nation.
900lbs sees this level of convenience, immersion and information of products being a precursor to changing the future of retail. The virtual reality car showroom experience allows users to:
-
Explore 15 of Vroom’s “Affordable Performance” muscle cars in person with options representing almost 200 vehicles in stock.
-
Walk around the vehicle’s exterior then jump inside and sit in the driver seat.
-
Go on 360 degree video test drives.
-
Access vehicle information (i.e. year, price, horsepower, trim package, etc).
-
Favorite vehicles to have an email follow-up sent about that car.
900lbs and Vroom have already begun developing the next phase, which will include more interactive and immersive features and the potential for a customized experience.
900lbs’ CEO Steve Deitz says, “This was a complex and technically intricate project. We had to develop new filming and production techniques in order to create phase one of this multi-phase experience. I’m really proud of our team.” “This VR showroom was part of a targeted campaign that saw a significant boost in web traffic”, explains Gaurav Misra, CMO of Vroom.
The first pop-up store launched in Phoenix on August 12, 2016, with consecutive pop-up stores planned for the Texas area before the end of the year.
